First, you need to find an event. If you don’t know yet which event you want to take part in, take a look at the events on our website to find the right challenge for you. - Get a place in the event
Once you know which event you want to take part in, you need to book a place in the event through the event organiser. We also have guaranteed places for some events – take a look at your event page for more information. - Request a sponsorship pack
When you have a confirmed place in an event, request a sponsorship pack and we'll send you a pack with fundraising ideas, training advice and a vest or a t-shirt to wear on the day.
2. Can I request a sponsorship pack to raise money for Cancer Research UK even if I’m not taking part in a running event?
If you are taking part in a triathlon, swimming or cycling event you can support Cancer Research UK – just request a sponsorship pack and we’ll send you fundraising tips and a t-shirt or vest.
If you are not taking part in a sports event (i.e. a run, swim, cycle or triathlon) and would like to raise money for Cancer Research UK please take a look at our fundraising ideas and advice or call our fundraising hotline on 08701 60 20 40.
3. How do I apply for a guaranteed place through Cancer Research UK?
Take a look at the event page to find out if we have guaranteed places available for the event you’re interested in. To apply for a Cancer Research UK guaranteed place please call us on 0871 641 2403.
The application process can differ slightly between events but generally we’ll take your details and entry payment over the phone, and we’ll then email you an online form from the organisers to be filled in.

4. My child is taking part in a Junior Run. How do I request a sponsorship pack?
Due to data protection we are unable to hold the details of supporters under the age of 16. To order a sponsorship pack for a child please call us on 0871 641 2403.

5. When will I get my sponsorship pack?
We aim to have all sponsorship packs with you within 7-10 days of requesting the pack. If your sponsorship pack does not arrive within 10 days of ordering it please call us on 0871 641 2403. Please be aware that sponsorship packs may take longer over public holidays.

6. When do I send my sponsorship money in, and where do I send it?
Please try to send your sponsorship money as soon after the event as possible. You can either pay in your sponsorship online or send it by cheque, made payable to "Cancer Research UK", with your sponsorship forms and paying in form to:

Whether you return your sponsorship online or by post, remember to send us your sponsorship form so that we can claim Gift Aid.
7. Can I order more sponsorship forms and fundraising materials?
If you haven’t used your sponsorship form yet, we do accept photocopied forms, or you can download a new sponsorship form.

8. Can I hold a street collection to raise funds?
To undertake a street collection you must apply for permission in advance from your local authority.
9. How do I raise money online?
Online fundraising is the quickest and easiest way to raise money. Creating an online sponsorship page makes it easy for your friends and family to sponsor you wherever they are in the world. Raising money online also reduces our administration costs, so even more money goes to our vital work.

10. Will you send me a receipt?
We send a letter thanking every fundraiser we receive money from within two weeks of receiving their donation. If you require a letter for the total amount you have raised, please call us on 0871 641 2403.

11. What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a scheme that allows us to claim at least 25p extra from the government for every pound you raise for Cancer Research UK.
Encourage your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box when making a donation. It won't cost you or your sponsors anything extra and means we can get more money for our life-saving work. It really makes a huge difference, £100 becomes at least £125.
If you collect your sponsorship with a paper form, please remember to send your sponsorship form that includes your sponsors' full names and home addresses including postcode with the sponsorship money so that we are able to claim Gift Aid.
Gift Aid is for UK taxpayers only.
12. How can I request materials for my family and friends to set up a cheering point on the race day?
We can send your family and friends cheering boards and sticks, whistles and balloons to help them set up a cheering point to support you on the race day. To order a cheering pack for your family and friends call us on 0871 641 2403.

13. What happens if I don’t take part?
Just let us know by calling us on 0871 641 2403 and we will update our records.
