Plan your journey
Check the start time and plan your journey to the venue well in advance.
Find out about bag storage
Find out if there are storage facilities at the event. You may need to ask a friend to mind your belongings. Make sure you leave lots of time before the start to drop off your bags and nip to the loo.
Arrange a meeting place
Sometimes mobiles won’t work at the events, so arranging a meeting spot in advance is a good way to make sure you find your friends, family or your running buddy after the race.
Spare clothing
Take along spare clothing, not just to keep you warm in the winter months, but you'll be grateful for a dry t-shirt and shorts in the summer too.
Stay safe in the sun
Be SunSmart if your event is during the summer months. Use factor 15 sunscreen or higher and cover up with a hat, t-shirt and sunglasses.
Ask your supporters to take a camera
Remember to ask your supporters to take their cameras or give your camera to them, so that you have photos of you on the day.
You can then share your photos with others after the event.
Take the challenge and run for charity
Take a look at the range of events to find the right challenge for you. Run for Cancer Research UK and help more people beat cancer.

With a few simple checks, you can make your race day experience all the more enjoyable.
