Completing the Bupa Great North Run will be a huge achievement for Adele as a combination of surgery and chemotherapy has left her with damage to one of her lungs. Adele is not a keen runner but has decided to do something which is outside of her comfort zone to help Cancer Research UK.
She has joined forces with her close friends Karen and Andy who are helping her with training and will be running with her on the day.
"I've told Andy and Karen to run on ahead and make sure they have a glass of chilled white wine waiting for me at the end!" Adele says.
As well as having her friends to support her, Adele is hoping to meet some new friends along the way to help keep her going.
She has already raised an amazing £750 by emailing friends and family asking them to donate and to keep them updated on her training. By the time race day comes, she hopes to have raised over £1,000.
