Kate and Paddy at the Brighton marathonBrother and sister Kate and Paddy Davey took on an incredible challenge in April 2010 to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research UK.

They ran three marathons in three days dressed as breasts in memory of both their grandmothers, who died from breast cancer.

Starting in Southampton on the Friday and continuing in London on the Saturday, the pair ran their own routes round the two cities joined by friends and family for support.

They finished the challenge with the first ever Brighton Marathon and were cheered on by the Cancer Research UK team.

Kate and Paddy started training last October in preparation for the big event.

“Physically, it was an enormous challenge but really it was three days of pain for us, which is nothing compared to what people suffering from this dreadful disease have to go through,” Kate says.

Reflecting on the event, Paddy says: “The last marathon was very tough, but the constant cheering from the Brighton crowd was hugely motivating.  It was a very emotional experience and we often reflected on why we were running, which helped us complete the event.

“Cancer Research UK does such an incredible job and we feel lucky to have been involved in some way.”

Kate and Paddy raised over £3,000 for Cancer Research UK’s vital work. If you’d like to sponsor them, visit their online fundraising page.
