Lucy was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2006 shortly after going to see her GP when she found a lump in her breast.
Her chemotherapy treatment started right away with the plan to shrink the tumour before operating to remove it. Unfortunately the cancer had spread quickly to her lungs and brain, and Lucy died in April 2008 – just weeks after Scott and Lucy’s wedding.
Scott remembers: "The last few weeks of Lucy’s life were amazing – she never ever felt sorry for herself or got depressed. That was Lucy all over, she was a very positive and caring person. These are memories I shall never forget."
"We shared such a lovely life – I just never realised I would lose her so soon."
Raising money to help save lives
In addition to running the marathon, Scott has organised many fundraising activities. He has organised a football and a golf tournament, and a winter ball at the Headland Hotel in Newquay, where the couple got married.
In total Scott has raised an amazing £16,000 for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
